Meet the Livingston Education Foundation. Executive Director Janan Moore shares how community support is creating opportunities for Livingston students and educators through teacher grants, student scholarships and more.

There are great ideas in classrooms across Livingston ISD every day. There are teachers dreaming up new ways to engage their students, students working toward opportunities beyond graduation, and a community that cares deeply about the schools and the students and educators inside them.

The Livingston Education Foundation was created to connect those ideas with a community that's ready to invest in them.

Established in 2026, the Livingston Education Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) non profit organization dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities for students and educators throughout Livingston ISD. Working alongside the district, the foundation provides a way for individuals, families, businesses and community partners to directly support opportunities that extend beyond what the district's regular budget can provide.

SO, WHAT DOES AN EDUCATION FOUNDATION DO?

Public school districts operate within carefully planned budgets designed to meet the needs of thousands of students. But sometimes an educator has an innovative idea, a student needs an additional opportunity, or there is a project that could make a meaningful difference but falls outside of those regular funding sources.

That's where the foundation comes in.

Through private donations, business partnerships and community support, the Livingston Education Foundation raises funds that can be invested back into our schools.

Our funding priorities include innovative teacher grants, student scholarships (what you may know as Green & White), recognition of academic achievement and teaching excellence, and support for capital projects and other education initiatives that benefit Livingston ISD students and staff.

It's a way for our community to say, We believe in what's happening inside out schools, and we want to be part of making even more possible.

The Livingston Education Foundation is led by a volunteer Board of Directors made up of community members who share a common goal: helping create even more opportunities for Livingston ISD students and educators.

Our board members bring different backgrounds, experiences and connections to the table, but they are united by a shared belief in the importance of investing in public education and in the future of Livingston.

Board members serve voluntarily, helping guide the foundation's fundraising, community partnerships, grant making and long-term growth while ensuring that the resources entrusted to the foundation are used responsibly and with purpose.

INDEPENDENT, BUT WORKING TOGETHER

One of the most common questions about an education foundation is how it differs from the school district itself.

The Livingston Education Foundation is a separate, independent nonprofit organization. While we work closely with Livingston ISD to understand the needs of its students and educators, the foundation has its own Board of Directors, fundraising efforts, and financial oversight.

That independence allow the foundation to bring together community resources specifically for opportunities that enhance and expand what is already happening within our schools.

THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING

As a new organization, one of our biggest goals this year is simply to introduce ourselves.

We want Livingston to know who we are, understand why the foundation exists and, most importantly, see the difference that community investment can make for the students and educators of LISD.

Over the coming months and years, we'll use this News page to take you inside that work. We'll introduce you to educators bringing innovative ideas to life, celebrate students and scholarship recipients, share the impact of foundation-funded projects and keep you updated on new ways to get involved.

Because when a community invests in its schools, that investment reaches far beyond the classroom.
